Founders’ Welcome

When we opened the British School of Monaco in November 2022, we had a specific vision for the kind of culture and community that we wanted to create. In just two short years, it has been exceptionally satisfying to see that culture grow, and the community come to life. Much has been achieved in such a short time, and yet it feels as though we have barely started.

The British School of Monaco is built on a clear set of values that define the kinds of adults we want our students to grow into. We frame these values in terms of three relationships – with oneself, with others, and with life.

Education is not about rote learning or passing exams – although these disciplines can play a role in personal development. Education is about learning who you are – a complex being – and successfully integrating into an increasingly complex world: finding pursuits that marry with your skills and passions, making a positive difference to the people and communities around you, building healthy relationships, overcoming challenges, and taking advantage of all that life has to offer.

We are an ambitious school, that follows a rigorous academic programme and invests in high-quality educators to implement it. However, the personal development, happiness and physical health of our students are the foundations of this academic programme, and high-grades alone are no substitute for these.

A school is a focal point within its surroundings, and we are so privileged to have been permitted to open our school within the extraordinary Monaco community. To have our values reverberate out into the world through the lives and actions of our students, both now and in the future, fulfils our goal to make a positive change globally.

If our vision, approach and values resonate with you, then we hope that you and your children can join us on this exciting journey.

Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to the British School of Monaco, a unique family-run English language school where the Council of  British International Schools (COBIS) observed “positive and supportive relationships abound.”

Every child deserves their schooldays to be magical and in our Primary School, Secondary School and our bespoke Individual Programme, our children feel at home. Here their confidence flourishes and they enjoy the nurturing relationships that are necessary to grow and develop, whilst enjoying their childhood in a caring and creative environment.

Therefore the British School is small by design; we know that this is a major contributor towards intellectual and social development. Every child is known and valued; their teachers understand how they learn and where reinforcement or additional challenge is required.

A Cambridge school, we teach a broad, balanced and proven British curriculum and parents enjoy an easy dialogue with teachers as well as enjoying regular social events.

Our ambitions for our children are wide-ranging and we know that the most enduring future successes will be based upon developing their confidence, judgement and an open-minded and creative approach to life and learning.

If you and your children would like to join our community, I would be delighted to discuss it with you.
