Key responsibilities

 

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Biology lessons aligned with the British National Curriculum, IGCSE, and A Level specifications.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for external examinations, ensuring a strong understanding of practical and theoretical aspects of Biology.
  • Incorporate practical experiments, fieldwork, and modern technology into lessons to enhance scientific inquiry and critical thinking.

Student Assessment & Progress

  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress through regular formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide individualized feedback and support to students to help them achieve their academic potential.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and communicate progress with parents and school leadership.

Curriculum Development & Innovation

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Biology curriculum.
  • Integrate current scientific research, sustainability topics, and ethical considerations into lessons.
  • Foster students' curiosity and passion for Biology through extracurricular activities such as science clubs, competitions, and educational trips.

Professional Development & Collaboration

  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and enhance the STEM curriculum.
  • Stay updated with the latest educational trends and scientific advancements.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

  • A degree in Biology or a related field.
  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching Biology at secondary level, including IGCSE and A Level.
  • Strong knowledge of practical laboratory work and experimental procedures.
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience teaching in an international or British school setting.
  • Passion for extracurricular science activities and the ability to mentor students for science competitions.

Safeguarding Children

 

  • The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people for whom he/she is responsible, or with whom he/she comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant British School of Monaco Safeguarding, Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times.
