Welcome to
The British School of Monaco Early Years

In the British School of Monaco Early Years we offer our children a happy, caring and purposeful learning environment and the opportunity to progress to our oversubscribed Primary School.

As is the case throughout the British School of Monaco, we are part of a family-owned and family-run school that is small by design. This enables us to understand our children and their uniqueness, to communicate seamlessly with their families and to maintain our unique culture and values in every part of the school.

We offer a traditional British education and we prioritise our children’s wellbeing, nurturing them to be happy, confident, independent learners who have consideration for others and the world around them.

We follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum through a range of purposeful play-based activities that appeal to children and enhance the skills that are explained below.

Our Core Values

British School of Monaco’s fundamental values are organised around three core relationships:

  • To Oneself: Integrity and Responsibility, emphasizing self-awareness, personal accountability, and a journey of continuous learning.
  • To Others: Respect and Generosity, promoting kindness, empathy, and appreciation for diverse perspectives within the school community.
  • To Life: Courage and Curiosity, encouraging students to embrace challenges, explore the world, and take advantage of opportunities in a constantly evolving environment.

Learning characteristics

In addition to these values, British School of Monacom focuses on developing key learning characteristics:

  • Reflection: The ability for students to understand their own learning process and be self-aware.
  • Resilience: The capacity to adapt, learn from setbacks, and persevere in the face of challenges.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility in approach and willingness to change, essential for success in a dynamic world.
  • Balance: the development of a healthy mind in a healthy body with a positive outlook and appreciation of all that life offers.

Parental Involvement

Throughout the British School of Monaco we foster close links with parents and carers and regular, informal contact is encouraged. We promote and value parental involvement in their child’s learning and development through our regular formal and informal communications and information sessions. Teachers are always available for conversations at the end of each day or by appointment to speak privately, if required.

Our community of parents meets regularly for social events and also in various parts of the school for Information Coffee Mornings, which are a hybrid of social meetings and a short presentation by a member of staff on an aspect of child development.

Each year group has a Parent Ambassador who acts as a link and facilitator, particularly helping families who are new to feel part of the community.
